Rolf Christof Dienst

Rolf Christof Dienst is a German national and studied law in Munich where he passed his bar exam in the early 70s as a tax lawyer. Ever since then Rolf has been a pioneer in Investment Banking, Venture Capital and Private Equity as a truly serial entrepreneur.
In 1968, Rolf co-founded Matuschka Group, an Asset Management and Investment Banking Organization with well over 350 employees and presences in Europe, US and Japan where he was directly in charge of the Private Equity and M&A businesses as the President of the Group.
He then founded Wellington Partners Venture Capital Management in 1991, soon to become one of the largest VC firms in Germany with assets in excess of € 1.3bn under management and offices in Munich, London and Zurich. Some of their most prominent investments and exits were Spotify, Actelion, E-Circle, Applause and ControlExpert.
In 2005, Rolf was elected to join the board of the German Private Equity Association (BVK) and held the position of Chairman from 2007 to 2009.
In 2011, he changed his status at Wellington into that of a retiring partner and went with his wife on a 9 months sabbatical trip to the Far East, following his passion for Asia. After their return, Rolf activated his family office Wessel Management GmbH, which by now has invested in over 35 companies with a focus on state-of-the-art technology and is now diversifying its activities into this part of the world as part of which Rolf is taking a stake in and a role at Reciprocus Financial Services.
